FAQ – When should my child visit the pediatric dentist?

Here’s a response to a frequently asked question:

When should my child see the dentist?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children see a pediatric dentist within six months of the eruption of the first tooth, or by your child’s first birthday. Meeting the dentist early prevents dental problems and allows your child to view the dental visit as a positive experience. At the early visit, the Pediatric Dental Center team focuses on prevention, early detection and treatment of dental diseases. Our team also keeps current on the latest advances in dentistry for children.

After the initial visit, we hope to see your child regularly – every six months. These routine visits include the cleaning, full oral examination, hygiene, fluoride applications, X-rays and healthy eating instructions.

Early intervention will help your child have a lifelong healthy smile.
